Apple is moving forward with the development of OS X 10.8.4, the fourth maintenance update to its Mountain Lion operating system, by releasing build 12E36 to testers.

People who are familiar with the new build say Apple has a continued focus on Wi-Fi, Graphics Drivers, and Safari, these being the main areas of the OS where the company patches bugs on a regular basis.

To download OS X 10.8.4, registrants of the Apple Developer Program need use the OS X Software Update Seed Configuration Utility.

Apple is at its fourth beta of OS X 10.8.4 and there’s no indication that the Cupertino behemoth is planning a public release anytime soon.

Although the test seeds have become less frequent in the past year, the company continues to carry out thorough maintenance on the desktop OS.

At WWDC 2013, Apple is expected to unveil OS X 10.9, its next major Mac OS.
