Earlier this week, Active Storage confirmed plans to offer the next-generation server solution to Apple Xsan users. Digital Partners Incorporated (dpi), a reseller of Apple products for businesses across the U.S., now announced it has been chosen by Active Storage to be the key reseller of its new ActiveSAN product

In the report, Clayton, MO-based Digital Partners confirms that it has had a relationship with Active Storage since its first day of business in 2008.

At the time, dpi served as the primary reseller of its products.

Active Storage, for its part, is a company founded and created by former Apple employees who left just as Apple had discontinued its Xserve RAID product in 2008.

“In an agreement with Active Storage, Digital Partners (dpi) will sell ActiveSAN nationwide and be the sole reseller for the new appliance in the Western half of the U.S.,” the Apple reseller announced today.

"This is another important step for us at dpi," said Matina Koester, dpi's president. "With the recent opening of a Los Angeles office and plans for one in New York City, we have become an important source for the enterprise user of Apple products."

The official dpi report explains that, following Apple’s discontinuation of the Xserve, Active Storage came to the rescue with its ActiveSan product, “a server-based appliance that incorporates Active Storage product design and the performance and reliability of an Intel Nehalem server platform, in a 1U rack form factor.”

As reported by Softpedia earlier today, the server computer uses Linux and the Quantum StorNext SAN file system, under the Active Storage-designed user interface and management suite, to achieve “phenomenal ease of use in deployment and management of the operating system and StorNext,” according to the folks at Active Storage.

ActiveSan will be showcased at the NAB 2011 convention in April, while pricing and configurations are yet to be announced.

Shipping will begin in the second quarter of 2011, though dpi claims customers can order one immediately.

Since dpi will be the primary platinum reseller for Active Storage, the company pledges to provide the best support for its customers.
