Apple Reportedly Building an iWatch with Intel

A new rumor from China says Apple has entered a partnership with semiconductor company Intel to develop and sell a wireless smart-watch similar to the Pebble.

TNW cites a couple of reliable Chinese sites saying that sources from the “supply chain” have heard chatter about Apple and Intel building this futuristic wristwatch that connects to existing iOS devices via Bluetooth.

Regarded as the ultimate iAccessory for those who already find themselves in the Apple ecosystem, this iWatch (as it will undoubtedly be called if it pans out) could be released as soon as H1 2013, the Chinese sources said.

Hardware-wise, the watch would boast a 1.5-inch OLED display with indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass from Taiwanese PMOLED panel manufacturer RiTdisplay.

The rumor is of course sketchy, but that won’t stop us from dreaming. The demand for such a product is there, and Apple has already shown interest in putting a multi-touch device onto people’s wrists. So why not go all the way?

In fact, I’m sure a certain analyst with investment bank Piper Jaffray will find this rumor particularly tantalizing in regards to his theories about Apple launching a full-fledged TV set. What better remote to use with it, if not the one that’s constantly attached to your hand?
