Apple has released a free update for users of its template-based website creation tool, iWeb. As part of the iLife suite, iWeb 3.0.3 improves compatibility with Mac OS X, while addressing a couple of minor issues.

iWeb ‘11 was released on October 20, 2010 as part of the iLife '11 suite, though it wasn't updated from the previous release - version 3.0.2. This is the first software update it gains since.

The app allows users to create websites and blogs and customize them with their own text, photos and movies.

Users can then publish their websites to MobileMe or another hosting service, as the app integrates with other services, including Facebook, YouTube, Google AdSense and Google Maps.

“Create your site using themes. Customize it with photos, movies, text, and widgets. Then publish to MobileMe or any other hosting service,” Apple explains.

“iWeb even notifies Facebook when your site changes and adds a link to your profile so your friends stay up to date,” the company adds.

As noted above, iWeb 3.0.3 comes to the rescue for those who’ve been having a bit of trouble with the app lately, such as experiencing issues when using the iSight Movie widget on some systems, or issues when publishing via the FTP file transfer protocol.

The official changelog is available below.
