Apple today released iTunes 11.1, a major new update to the company’s media player and digital storefront application, adding a range of new features and enhancements, as well as full support for the upcoming iOS 7.

According to the release notes from Apple, “This version of iTunes comes with several major new features.”

The list starts off with the flagship iTunes Radio feature, a music streaming service that allows users to “choose from over 250 stations or start a new one from your favorite artist or song.”

For an ad-free experience, customers can subscribe to iTunes Match.

Genius Shuffle is another new feature introduced in the new iTunes which enables users to find and match “songs that go great together.”

“Click it again to hear something new—enjoying your music has never been this easy,” Apple explains.

Users of the new iTunes 11.1 will also get Podcast Stations, which permits the creation of custom stations of podcasts that will then update automatically whenever new episodes trickle in.

“Your stations, subscriptions, and current play position sync over iCloud to the Podcasts app,” Apple says.

Finally, iTunes 11.1 allows devices to sync with iOS 7, an upcoming major new version of Apple’s mobile operating system powering iPhones and iPads worldwide.

“You can now use iTunes to sync your favorite music, movies, and more to devices with iOS 7.”

A new application organizer is included with this new feature, delivering a more visual approach to managing apps on an iDevice.

“In addition, iTunes now makes it even easier to quickly organize and sync apps to your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch,” reads the changelog.
