Mac owners and users of Apple's iLife suite of applications have a new update to download and install. While iPhoto had been a very stable app since the release of iLife '08, Apple noticed that improvements needed to be made to the printing quality of books, cards and calendars ordered through the application's dedicated printing service.

From Apple's Support page...

About iPhoto 7.1.5

This update improves the printing quality of books, cards and calendars ordered via the iPhoto printing service. The download includes all Apple-supported languages - Dansk, Deutsch, English, Español, Finnish, Français, Italiano, Japanese, Korean, Nederlands, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Svensk, Traditional Chinese.

Creating a photo book in iPhoto is very easy, Apple says. Just choose an Apple-designed theme, drop it in your photos, and add text. You can choose from a range of styles and sizes, including hardcover, softcover and wire-bound, according to Apple. iPhoto calendars are now larger: 10.4-by-13 inches in size. Mac owners can choose a colorful Apple-designed template and make their photo posters, add text as well, and even place photos and captions on individual days to mark birthdays and anniversaries.

Finally, users can choose from an entire catalogue of styles in folding greeting cards or 4-by-6-inch postcards. Use the built-in tools to resize, rotate and crop photos, and add effects. When it's done, you can either print at home or send out for professional printing. 5-by-7-inch folded greeting cards let you choose from a variety of Apple-designed themes that include designs in horizontal and vertical formats. Just add your favorite photos and text. Envelopes are included.

Since this update addresses printing issues, users should no longer have a problem when they send their photos out for professional color printing. If it's iPhoto material, it can be turned into a 20-by-30-inch poster, Apple says.

iPhoto 7.1.5 requires Mac OS X 10.4.11 or later and iPhoto 7.1.4. To update your version of iPhoto, use the link available below.
