A new version of iMovie is available from Cupertino today, adding tweaks and fixes for Mac users running OS X 10.9 aka Mavericks.

iMovie 10.0.1 is an incremental update which supersedes the major 10.0 release from last month, which added an all-new design and a huge set of new features to the Apple-developed movie editing & management software.

Released in the Mac App Store just hours ago, the new version allows the application to be installed on systems with “some older video cards.” Apple doesn’t specify which video cards are supported, though.

Another issue addressed in this release is “reliability issues when updating projects and events from previous versions of iMovie.” Apparently customers have been having problems importing their photos from older installations of iLife.

For those who haven’t yet made the jump to iMovie 10, the software now sports a new design, quick options to share clips, movies, and trailers to iMovie Theater, a video browsing mode with quick clip sharing, easy access to video and audio controls via the Adjustments Bar, 16 new title styles, 14 new trailer templates, and eight new themes (borrowed from the iOS version of iMovie).

Users can now make trailers using photos, or incorporate additional movie clips using the new plus button.

Editing wise, you can now trim video and audio clips directly in the timeline, enhance video and audio with a click, while drag-and-drop actions have been simplified (i.e. for picture-in-picture, green screen, etc.).

Other enhancements are listed below. Download iMovie 10.0.1 for Mac and make sure to check out the updated iLife system requirements on Apple Support.

Other new features in iMovie 10:

"Adjust shadows, highlights, and color temperature Match the color of two clips Ken Burns Effect for panorama photos Improved video stabilization Enhanced green screen and blue screen effect Volume-aware audio ducking Speed change controls in the timeline Add just a portion of a song from iTunes to your movie Email video clips and projects Sharing support for Youku and Tudou Import, analyze, and share clips in the background Native support for AVCHD video 64-bit support"
