Apple has posted a new Xcode beta on its Dev Center, giving programmers a new software development kit for iOS and Mac development.
Xcode 5 Developer Preview 6 requires OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion) or later. The toolset doesn’t run on earlier versions of OS X and includes SDKs for iOS 7, OS X 10.9, and OS X 10.8.
“This is a pre-release version of the complete Xcode developer toolset for Mac, iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Please review the Release Notes before installing. Xcode 5 Developer Preview requires OS X Mountain Lion or later,” Apple tells developers.
Xcode is distributed as a single application bundle (named “Xcode5-DP6.app”) which developers can install by simply dragging it to their Applications folder.
On OS X Server installations, Xcode 5 Developer Preview 6 must be installed differently. The instructions are available in the official Xcode 5 Developer Preview 6 release notes.
