14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has released Audio Tools for Xcode, a free package for application developers which includes audio tools formerly bundled in the Xcode installer.
Supporting OS X Mountain Lion and OS X Mavericks, AU Lab is a digital mixing application for blending audio from the input of an audio device. The app can also mix audio generated by an Audio Unit Instrument or Generator.
AU Lab can host Audio Unit effects and has a very high-performance-to-low-overhead ratio, with the audio engine being capable of supporting multiple outputs.
The bundled HALLab app is also an audio management tool, but it’s far less complex, and has to do more with the code behind the sounds, rather than the sound itself. Registered Apple developers can download Audio Tools for Xcode from the Apple Dev Center immediately.
