Apple has released a standalone OS X 10.9.1 update specifically targeting the latest breed of Mac Pro computers, delivering all the improvements from the original update, plus “system-specific” enhancements and fixes.

Weighing in at just over 200MB, OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 Update for Mac Pro (Late 2013) is “recommended for all Mac Pro (Late 2013) systems,” according to the company.

“It includes all updates from OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 plus system-specific enhancements and fixes to improve the stability and compatibility of your Mac,” reads a tech-note on Apple Support.

Some highlights from the update are listed below (as per Apple KB article HT6065).

Improved support for Gmail in OS X Mail, and fixes for users with custom Gmail settings Improves the reliability of Smart Mailboxes and search in Mail Fixes an issue that prevented contact groups from working properly in Mail Resolves an issue that prevented VoiceOver from speaking sentences that contain emoji Fixes an issue that prevented iLife and iWork apps from updating on non-English systems Addresses an issue that may cause multiple prompts to unlock “Local items” keychain Addresses an issue that may cause Japanese keyboards to retain a previously used language Includes Safari 7.0.1

As avid Mac users will notice, Apple has been reluctant to mention any of the system-specific changes targeting Mac Pro (Late 2013) models.

Earlier this week, Apple also rolled out OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 Update for MacBook Pro with Retina Display (Late 2013), a 364.1 MB installer aimed at 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Pro with Retina Display (Late 2013) systems.

“It includes all updates from OS X Mavericks 10.9.1 plus system specific enhancements to improve the stability and compatibility of your Mac,” the company said of this update on December 16. Both updates are available as free downloads at the link below.
