After announcing two upgraded Wi-Fi base stations for its customers, Apple has released AirPort Utility 6.3 for Mac and AirPort Base Station and Time Capsule Firmware Update 7.7.1.

The updated AirPort Utility 6.3 can be used to set up and manage 802.11n and 802.11ac AirPort base stations (AirPort Express, Extreme, and Time Capsule).

“AirPort Utility 6.3 allows you to configure and manage the new AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule with 802.11ac Wi-Fi, and includes enhanced remote management capabilities,” says Apple.

In other words, your Mac gains full compatibility with Apple’s redesigned (both inside and out) AirPort Express and AirPort Time Capsule.

This update weighs in at 21.43 MB and applies to OS X 10.7.5 Lion or later, and OS X 10.8.3 Mountain Lion or later.

AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule Firmware Update 7.7.1 is also destined for the new AirPort Extreme and AirPort Time Capsule base stations with 802.11ac capabilities.

“It resolves a rare issue that may cause the hard drive in AirPort Time Capsule or a hard drive connected via USB to become unresponsive,” Apple explains.
