Developers are again asked to focus on Wi-Fi, Graphics, and Safari

Apple has posted a new pre-release update to OS X Mountain Lion, including Delta and Combo Update installers, for developers enrolled in its annual seeding program.

According to the seed note accompanying OS X 10.8.4 Build 12E52, testers are to look for bugs in areas like Graphics Drivers, Wi-Fi, and the Safari web browser.

As usual, Apple tells developers to be aware that they will not be able to revert back to their previous system after updating, and that such betas must go on systems that are ready for erasing at any time, if necessary.

Since the build is being provided for testing and development purposes, any problems (bugs) that may arise need to be reported back to Apple via the online Bug Reporter at bugreporter.apple.com.

Testers need to make sure to include "10.8.4 (12E52)" in the bug title and description for quick processing of the respective bug.

While OS X 10.8.4 could be released anytime between this week and WWDC, Apple is also known to be testing OS X 10.9, the next major version of the company’s desktop OS.

If history repeats itself this year, OS X 10.8.4 (Mountain Lion) could turn out to be the brethren of OS X 10.7.4, the last release of Apple’s Lion operating system.

Developers enrolled with Apple can download Mountain Lion build 12E52 from Apple’s Dev Center or through the Mac App Store.

The barebones Delta update weighs in at 362.55 MB while the combo disk image is 830MB in size.

If you are a Mac Developer Program member who hasn’t yet used Mountain Lion, you can download the OS and upgrade your Mac using a code from the Mac Dev Center.

You’ll need to ensure your Mac is running at least Snow Leopard (OS X v10.6.8) and that you have at least 8GB of free storage before redeeming your code from Apple.
