The photography-centric part of Apple’s iLife suite, iPhoto, has received an update to facilitate compatibility with iCloud (Apple’s new set of web services) and iOS 5 (the latest mobile OS for iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad).
iCloud is a new web-suite from Apple that replaces MobileMe. The cloud service stores your music, photos, apps, calendars, documents, and wirelessly pushes them to all your devices.
Soon after releasing iCloud and iOS 5 to the masses, Apple rolled out several other software updates to bring integration and compatibility with the new web-suite across all platforms, including Windows PCs.
One of those software updates is iPhoto 9.2, a new version of the picture-organizing app on Macintosh computers.
“iPhoto 9.2 supports compatibility with iCloud and iOS 5. This update also addresses minor stability, performance and compatibility issues,” Apple says/
Listed in a Support document posted by Apple online, these changes include:
· Left and right swipe gestures can now be used to navigate between photos in Magnify (1-up) view · Previously imported photos are now displayed in a separate section of the Import window · Book/calendar themes and card categories can now be selected using a pop-up menu in the carousel view · Resolves an issue that could cause some pages of books to print incorrectly · Rebuilding a library now correctly preserves saved slideshows and books
Apple recommends the update to all users of iPhoto '11. System requirements include Mac OS X 10.6.8 and OS X Lion 10.7.2 or later.
The app supports several languages, including Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese and Korean.
