Apple Releases New iOS ATV Update with iTunes “Up Next” Support

Owners of the puck-sized set-top box bearing the Apple logo have a new update to install today. iOS 5.1.1 for Apple TV 2G and Apple TV 3G adds support for the new “Up Next” feature in iTunes 11, and stability and performance improvements.

Apple TV iOS 5.1.1 adds support for Up Next with iTunes 11 or iTunes Match, according to Apple. Customers can now see upcoming songs when playing music on their set-top box, and add new songs and edit what's queued with the iOS Remote app, or with the physical (aluminum) remote that shipped with their ATV.

As far as bug fixes are concerned, Apple touts “performance and stability improvements with the iTunes Store, AirPlay, Netflix, iTunes Match, and wired Ethernet connections.”
