A new update to Aperture is available from Apple’s Downloads site and via Software Update for every Mac user running Aperture 3, the company’s professional photography software.

Aperture 3.2.4 is a new version of Apple’s image manipulation program which improves stability on Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard.

The update further addresses an issue that could prevent the Viewer from updating correctly after editing a photo using an external editor, Apple says. “The update is recommended for all users of Aperture 3,” according to the Cupertino, California-based technology giant.

As usual, the most current release supersedes the former (Aperture 3.2) which improved compatibility with iCloud and iOS 5, and which resolved an issue that could cause the "Loading" indicator to reappear in the Viewer when cropping a photo.

The software also now automatically relaunches into Full Screen mode if the application was in Full Screen mode when last quit, thanks to some tweaks included in the previous update.

The pinch-to-zoom gesture now automatically activates Zoom mode in the Viewer, while left and right swipe gestures can now be used in Viewer to navigate between photos.

In Preferences, Microsoft Outlook can now be chosen as the application used by Aperture for emailing photos, and loupe now correctly displays magnification levels between 50-100 percent.

A problem that could cause Aperture to quit unexpectedly when using brushes to apply adjustments has been fixed on OS X Lion. Other changes in the newest updates include:

· Fixes an issue that could cause Aperture, running on OS X Lion, to display the incorrect color profile on externally edited images · Import window now includes an option to delete photos from iPhone and iPad after they have been imported into Aperture · The Lift & Stamp tool now displays the correct cursor icons when being used in Split View and Viewer only modes
