Apple’s Support Downloads section is featuring two new software updates for owners of a Macintosh computer running Mac OS X Snow Leopard. The Mac Pro Audio Update addresses what Apple calls “an audio anomaly” coming from within the workstation when using audio devices over FireWire. The second package Apple encourages Mac users to download contains the latest drivers for Epson printers.

Describing the Mac Pro Audio Update 1.1, Apple reveals that, “This update addresses an audio anomaly that some customers may hear coming from inside their Mac Pro computer when using FireWire audio devices. This update is for Mac Pro (Early 2009) computers running Mac OS X v10.6.3.”

As far as Epson Printer Drivers are concerned, the updater carries version number 2.3.1 and is aimed at Mac OS X v10.6 or higher. “This update installs the latest software for your Epson printer or scanner,” Apple states, and directs users to a support / knowledge base article where customers can view the complete list of printers and scanners that are supplied with Snow Leopard Install DVD and by Software Update.

“Mac OS X v10.6 Snow Leopard includes software for many printer and scanner models,” Apple further notes. “This software can be installed from the Snow Leopard Install DVD, and installed or updated by using Software Update (some models have software available through Software Update only).”

In order to get printer drivers that were not installed during the Mac OS X installation process, customers must either choose Software Update from the Apple menu, and allow it to complete the process of “Checking for new software,” or download the standalone installer package from Apple’s Downloads area. Softpedia also hosts such updaters (available below for download).
