Apple has posted a new update for users of Logic Studio (2009), enhancing the capabilities of MainStage 2, the tool used for live performances. Recently, Apple has also released a maintenance update for the Pro version of its digital audio workstation and MIDI sequencer for Mac OS X, Logic Studio.

“MainStage 2.1.1 is an update to MainStage 2, which is part of the paid upgrade to Logic Studio (2009),” a Support document containing the complete release notes for MainStage 2 reads. The Mac maker is yet to post the standalone MainStage 2.1.1 installer on the Downloads section of its website. “This update improves overall performance and provides numerous fixes. This update is recommended for all users of MainStage 2,” Apple adds, describing the latest changes. The company then proceeds to list the issues addressed in this update.

Talking about fixed 64-bit mode issues, the Cupertino-located Apple says it is now possible to run the FXPansion's BFD2 plug-in in the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge. Other related fixes are tied to the graphical user interface and controls of third-party Audio Units running in the 32-bit Audio Unit Bridge. As far as Stability Issues are concerned, Apple lists the following:

- In 64-bit mode, a 32-bit Audio Unit plug-in quitting unexpectedly no longer causes MainStage to also quit unexpectedly. - Working with multiple concerts with open plug-in windows no longer causes MainStage to sometimes quit unexpectedly. - MainStage no longer quits unexpectedly if a Patch increment button is assigned to a sustain pedal, and MainStage is switched from Layout mode to Edit mode while receiving continuous sustain messages. - Resolves an issue that could cause MainStage to quit unexpectedly when removing or changing an audio device.

A lengthy list of general fixes is then provided, followed by changes to Screen Controls, Parameter Mapping, the Playback Plug-in, and the Loopback Plug-in. To download the latest version of MainStage for Logic Studio, use the link below, or launch Software Update from the Apple Menu on your Mac.
