Apple today released new Java updates for users of its Macintosh computers, correcting an issue with Java applications failing to draw or respond to user input (on newer OS X releases), and improving security and compatibility (on Snow Leopard systems).

Java 2013-004 targets OS X Lion v10.7 or later and OS X Mountain Lion v10.8 or later. In addition to delivering the usual bag of security fixes, “this update corrects an issue with Java applications failing to draw or respond to user input,” according to Apple.

“Java for Mac OS X 10.6 Update 17 delivers improved security, reliability, and compatibility by updating Java SE 6 to 1.6.0_65. This update enables per-website control of the Java plug-in within Safari 5.1.9 or later,” Apple says of the second update.
