After the media event, Apple released a series of updates to improve compatibility with the newly released software and even to patch a program that had just been released. Now, Apple has released a series of hardware related updates which will follow pretty much in the same footsteps.

The Mac Pro SMC Firmware 1.1 Update is nothing spectacular. It merely updates the software that regulates the fans in Apple's top of the line computers. Good for both regular Mac Pros and the Octo-cores, the update is available through Software Update and also as a standalone installer.

The next update is the latest version of Boot Camp, 1.4 beta. While updates to this software so close to Leopard which is supposed to be replacing it are a bit surprising, it is nevertheless welcome for all current users. This update is rather big, with a lot of improvements in a lot of different areas. The full list includes: ■ Support for keyboard backlighting (MacBook Pro only) ■ Apple Remote pairing ■ Updated graphics drivers ■ Improved Boot Camp driver installer ■ Improved international keyboard support ■ Localization fixes ■ Updated Windows Help for Boot Camp

Last but not least, is an iMac update and in case you were wondering, you are probably right. This update is not for the old iMacs, but the new ones? the ones that were released just a couple of days ago. According to Apple, this 1.0 Update provides important bug fixes and is recommended for 20-inch and 24-inch iMac models with 2.0, 2.4, or 2.8GHz processors. First the iPhoto update and now the iMacs? While it is good that Apple is staying on top of things and releasing patches for potential issues as soon as possible, it does not bode well that two very different products get updated just days after their release.
