OS X users wielding a new-generation Panasonic camera or the Sony Alpha SLT-A58 have a new software update to download from Apple.

Digital Camera RAW Compatibility Update 4.07 is out today for Lion and Mountain Lion customers looking to add new RAW image support to their systems, particularly to the photography apps developed by Apple (Aperture and iPhoto).

“This update adds RAW image compatibility for the following cameras to Aperture 3 and iPhoto '11,” Apple says, following with a short list of three new supported cameras.

Thanks to the update, owners of Panasonic LUMIX DMC-G6, Panasonic LUMIX DMC-GF6, or Sony Alpha SLT-A58 will be able to import untouched RAW photos straight to iPhoto and Aperture.

System requirements include OS X 10.8.2 or later and OS X 10.7.5 or later. The download is free, as always.
