Besides iOS 8 Beta 4 and Yosemite, Apple staff was hard at work

If the first public beta of OS X Yosemite or a new iOS developers' beta were the Big News for today, Apple was actually pretty busy lately preparing new stuff for their users.

The 2011 MacBook Air Users have gotten an important EFI firmware update. The new 2.9 version is meant to solve two issues with computers running 10.9.2 and later.

According to the release notes, cited by Appleinsider, this "fixes an issue that causes some systems to take longer than expected to wake from sleep. Also addressed is a rare issue that could cause system cooling fans to run at full speed after waking from sleep. Apple notes the update should only be installed over EFI versions 0077.00, 0077.08, 0077.0E and 0077.0F on OS X 10.9.2 or higher."

The Update is only 4.3MB and can be found via the Mac App Store / Software Update or on Apple's website

Apple has released a new iTunes Festival App. It is available only in the UK AppStore. The new app has a flatter design and new information about this year's Music Event. We have presented this subject at large, on Monday. Bands like Maroon 5 and artists like Beck, Sam Smith, Blondie, Kylie, David Guetta, 5 Seconds of Summer, Calvin Harris and Chrissie Hynde will walk on that stage for 30 days.

It's important to note that the app does not provide any content for now. It only has a splash screen with the artists that will be performing in the 2014 iTunes Festival and it links to the different ways you can win Free tickets for the concerts.

Another small piece of information comes from iOS 8 Beta 4. The new version finally brings streaming voice recognition to keyboard dictation. Unlike iOS 7, the new dictation feature will listen to your voice and transcribe the words right away. See the video below for details.

Apple also announced that the CloudKit Data will be erased on July 22. Developers using Apple's servers to store information about their apps or just simple iCloud Documents are advised to back up everything before the big wipe. This will affect iOS 8 beta developers and OS X Yosemite users alike. Apple has performed the same maintenance routine a few weeks ago, before the iOS 8 Beta 3 was released.
