The company is a bit TOO shy about it, though

Trying to get ahead of its own website (with the WWDC and all, it's understandable), for the last few hours, Apple has been trying to decide which Beta build of the iPhone SDK to offer up for grabs. Luckily, eagle-eyed work mates of mine have grabbed the seventh beta of the iPhone SDK just in the neck of time, which is why we're now able to share it with you.

Currently, Apple's developer program page lists iPhone SDK Beta 6, stating the following: "The sixth beta version of the iPhone SDK includes Xcode IDE, iPhone simulator with Open GL ES support, Interface Builder, Instruments, frameworks and samples, compilers, and Shark analysis tool. To test your code directly on iPhone and distribute your application on the App Store, apply to the iPhone Developer Program."

These images reflect the moment beta 7 was available. Of course, what matters is the actual software build, not the formal description available next to the download link. Either way, you are sure to grab Apple iPhone SDK Beta 7 Build 9M2199 right HERE.

A recent Apple report says that the company's Software Development Kit (SDK) has been downloaded a whopping 250,000 times since its release in March. Leading developers have already worked some magic with Apple's own APIs, while some of them were even able to present full versions of native iPhone apps during yesterday's event.

A quote from one of the most influential names in the software business is available below:

"The SDK allowed us to build a groundbreaking new AIM client in record time," said Kevin Conroy, executive vice president, AOL. "The platform's elegance and ease of use has inspired our developers to create innovative new web and SDK based experiences for iPhone and iPod touch."

Anyone can download Apple's iPhone SDK as long as they log in with their Apple ID. However, the latest version of the SDK requires that you first upgrade your Mac to OS X v10.5.3.
