The new iPhone 4S device is already official, and users are already considering the possibility to make a new purchase starting with the next week, when it officially goes for sale.

Or even sooner, as Apple will have the new iPhone model available for reservations as soon as this week, on October 7th.

One way or the other, users will need to know whether they are eligible for purchasing the new device at a discounted price tag or not, and Apple has just published an online tool that will offer them the possibility to learn that.

Available here, the tool will enable users to learn more on when they can get the new device at a lower price from either AT&T or Verizon in the United States.

“You may be eligible for a reduced price on a new iPhone depending on your account status with your carrier. To determine your price, please begin by selecting your current wireless carrier,” users are informed when accessing the link above.

Regardless their wireless carrier, users are required to enter their phone number and billing zip code, as well as the last four digits of their Social Security number and their billing password.

As soon as these details are introduced on Apple's website, users will be provided with info on when they are eligible for a discounted iPhone model.

For the time being, however, it seems that the account details have not been changed for users, and that some might not be very happy with the results that the tool will offer.

However, both wireless carriers are expected to update the necessary details very soon, most probably before the new iPhone 4S becomes available for purchase on October 14th.

In the meantime, you can still head over to Apple's website here to see whether you are eligible now for an upgrade or not.
