Amazon spokesman says the pulling was ordered by Apple itself

Despite Proview Technology currently trying to ban iPad sales in China, the removal of the tablet computer from Amazon.com’s Chinese market has nothing to do with that, according to an Amazon China spokesman.

M.I.C Gadget reports that the removal of the iPad from Amazon’s Chinese site (as well as from Suning.com) was actually done at Apple’s orders.

“According to an Amazon China spokesman, the withdrawal is on the notice of Apple and also it’s the adjustment on its sales strategy,” reads the report. Apple’s Chinese staffers are mum.

A company called Proview Technology is actively trying to ban the sales of Apple’s tablet computer in the country citing trademark infringement. Reports from China say the product is so popular there that Proview may have to abandon its efforts to squeeze any cash out of Apple.
