Without any warning whatsoever, Apple this week pulled its only first-party video game developed specifically for the iPhone.

The app was a typical poker game named Texas Hold'em which debuted in 2006 for iPods, and became available for the iPhone a couple of years later.

The game was one of the first titles to debut in the iTunes App Store which itself debuted in 2008 with the iPhone 3G - the second iPhone model.

Texas Hold'em sold for $4.99 and was last updated in September 2008. Apple is removing all traces of the game one by one, the last of which was the dedicated page on its web site. The page now redirects customers to ‘apps from the app store’.

Quite frankly, now that Apple has pulled the five dollar app, I’m sad I never got around to downloading it. Does anyone here have the app on their device? How are you enjoying it?
