Reports are coming in saying that Big Fish Games’ subscription app has been pulled from iTunes without any explanation from Apple.

Big Fish had initially received Apple's blessing to be the first video games publisher to offer subscription-based access ($6.99 a month) to its iOS games.

Previously, Apple’s App Store only allowed individual downloads. Apparently, it still does.

“We were notified that the app was removed,” said Paul Thelen, founder of Big Fish. He said their app had been available since November 18. He added: “We’re trying to follow up with Apple to try to figure out what happened.”

Thelen was surprised by the move saying his company and Apple had lengthy discussions about the model, which ultimately got the approval of the Cupertino, California computer giant. Contacted by high-profile news agencies, Tom Neumayr, a spokesman for Apple, refused to comment on the matter.
