Apple is preparing some new gaming functionality for its iPhone users with the upcoming launch of iOS game controllers, yet specific info on when that might happen has yet to be provided.

In the meantime, however, users can learn more on what Apple’s plans on these game controllers might involve, courtesy of a document published on the company’s website.

One thing that should be said right from the beginning is the fact that the document is a preliminary one, and that the final product might be radically different than what is being described there at the moment.

It appears that users will be able to attach the game controllers to their iOS-powered devices, so as to enjoy additional features and capabilities, courtesy of more action buttons featured on these devices.

According to toucharcade, devs interested in supporting the accessories will need to make games playable both with and without the controllers.
