Apple has finally ceded to retract a statement from its website due to its misleading nature. The statement was supposed to act as an apology to Samsung following a UK court’s decision that the latter hadn’t copied the iPad.

Ordered to retract the old statement and post an amended one with an 11-point font, Apple has complied and has begun issuing its amended acknowledgement in UK newspapers. The web version is yet to go online.

While the Mac maker’s previous statement included unnecessary details about the iPad and the Samsung Galaxy line of tablets, the new one is much more concise and focused on the admission that Samsung hasn’t actually copied Apple’s tablet designs (at least in the UK’s view).

The literature specifically states, “On 9th July 2012 the High Court of Justice of England and Wales ruled that Samsung Electronics (UK) Limited’s Galaxy Tablet Computers, namely the Galaxy Tab 10.1, Tab 8.9 and Tab 7.7 do not infringe Apple’s Community registered design No. 0000181607.”

Apple also clarifies that said judgment has effect throughout the EU, adding that “there is no injunction in respect of the Community registered design in force anywhere in Europe.”
