Apple has issued a new version of iBooks for users of the e-reading application to enhance its stability and performance, according to the release notes available on iTunes. iWork Beta 4 is an update that targets developers.

The iBooks update is pretty much straight-forward: as the screenshot shows, Apple has released the new version to include “a number of important stability and performance improvements.”

The new iBooks should now be fully compatible with iOS 5, the next major version of Apple’s mobile operating system powering iPhones, iPads, and iPod touches.

As for the iWork update, a new beta has been offered to developers with the purpose of testing a “Documents and Data” service stemming from iCloud. The function syncs content wirelessly between iWork apps.
