Apple has posted a web page targeting potential iPhone buyers who may want to check the availability of the fresh iPhone model at their local store. The page is directly linked to Apple’s internal point-of-sale system, which allows for updates at each store on a regular basis.

“iPhone 3G S Availability. The Apple Retail Store likely has your iPhone 3GS in stock. You can check the most up-to-date availability right here. Shipments of iPhone 3GS arrive most days and availability is updated hourly. The 8GB iPhone 3G is currently available in all stores,” Apple reveals on the designated web page. “Select your state and then check the list to see which Apple Retail Stores currently stock iPhone 3GS,” the company tells visitors.

“The Apple Retail Store is the perfect place to get your iPhone,” Apple continues to stress. “When you arrive, a Concierge in an orange shirt will direct you to the iPhone bay where you can take advantage of our free iPhone Set Up. A Specialist will help you choose an iPhone, review coverage maps, select a rate plan, and — best of all — have your new iPhone ready to make calls, browse the web, and receive personal email right on the spot,” the company pinpoints, making it easy for customers to be prepared for the purchase.

Also noted on the Apple website is a list of things one needs to bring in store, such as a credit card, their social security number, a valid, government-issued photo ID and one's current wireless account number and password or PIN (if they’re new to AT&T). At least in the US., this is what buyers need to have on them at the time of the purchase to be able to buy and activate an iPhone. Also, they will need to be the primary account holder to purchase the device, and it goes for all iPhone models. “Remember to sync your current iPhone one last time before you come into the store,” Apple adds, ensuring customers don’t lose their personal information.
