A list of available trusted root certificates for iOS 5 has been made public on Apple’s Support web site where IT admins can review the data and make accurate configuration profiles for iDevice owners in their organization.

Using the Apple-developed iPhone Configuration Utility, IT administrators can create, maintain, encrypt, and install configuration profiles, as well as track and install provisioning profiles and authorized applications on iPhones and iPads in the Enterprise environment.

Admins can also capture device information including console logs with the utility.

These XML files will contain device security policies, VPN configuration information, settings for Wi-Fi, APN, Exchange accounts, mail, and certificates.

In iOS 5, there are several trusted root certificates preinstalled with iOS 5.

“When IT administrators create Configuration Profiles for iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch using the iPhone Configuration Utility, these certificates do not need to be included,” Apple says. To see the certificates for iOS 5, admins can visit Apple’s Support site here.
