Apple has released a second iOS 4.2 GM build to developers this week, hoping to address Wi-Fi issues with the tablet device, sources inform. The company was on track to publicly release the new software update not once, but twice this this month, reports indicate. However, a bug relating to wireless connectivity reportedly pushes it into late November.

Earlier this week, Softpedia reported that two separate sources claimed Apple was struggling to fix a Wi-Fi bug inside iOS 4.2, prompting the company to push the public launch of the update into the week to follow.

One of the sources specifically mentioned a November 16 release date.

The other went to detail the actual problem holding back the iOS 4.2 release, noting that “due to last-minute WiFi connection issues experienced by many users running the GM build on the iPad,” iOS 4.2 had been delayed.

According to those leaking this piece of information, it appears that even if the iPad manages to successfully connect to a local network, that connection is lost within minutes.

A common problem among testers, the WiFi bug is actually making it impossible to use the Safari web browser for some iPad iOS 4.2 testers, the source claims to have been told.

The source accurately predicted Apple’s release of a second GM build for iOS 4.2, with multiple Mac-centric web sites now reporting that a build 8C134b is now available for download from Apple's iOS Dev Center.

It accurately predicted the release of Mac OS X 10.6.5 as well, but not that of iTunes 10.1.

Ultimately, it is believed that at least another week of testing is in store for the new iOS version. Apple reportedly plans to test the last iOS 4.2 build “vigorously.”

Softpedia, for its part, forecasted that the new version of iTunes would arrive ahead, or at least alongside iOS 4.2, to ensure compatibility between desktop computers and iDevices running the new firmware.

The new iTunes is already available for download.
