14 DAY TRIAL // Server Admin Tools, the package containing remote administration tools, documentation, and utilities that administrators can install on a Mac other than their server, is now at version 10.6.7 and immediately available for download from Apple’s servers.
Apple notes that the latest Server Admin Tools require the Mac OS X 10.6.7 software update launched earlier this week for both Client and Server versions of the Snow Leopard operating system.
The tools are required to administer Mac OS X Server 10.6.7 remotely.
According to the folks down in Cupertino, the latest Server Admin Tools update is recommended for remote administration of Snow Leopard Server, as it includes the latest releases of iCal Server Utility, Podcast Composer, Server Admin, Server Monitor, Server Preferences, System Image Utility, Workgroup Manager, and Xgrid Admin.
Available as an automatic Software Update for Macs running Mac OS X 10.6.7 with version 10.6 or later of the Server Admin Tools already installed, Server Admin Tools 10.6.7 can also be downloaded manually from Apple Support Downloads, or from Softpedia.
As usual, Server Admin Tools 10.6.7 include all the additions from previous updates, while the complete list of improvements can be found at Apple’s Support site here.
For example, Server Admin enhancements include:
- Adds NetBoot/NetInstall model filters for MacBook Pro (Early 2011) models. (Server Admin Tools 10.6.7) - Displays all the complete hardware serial number, for servers with 12-character serial numbers. (Server Admin Tools 10.6.7) - When setting up a remote server, Server Admin will now reliably open Server Assistant. (Server Admin Tools 10.6.5)
Apple asks users to note that, even though they may have already installed the update, Server Admin Tools 10.6.7 may continue to appear in Software Update, should they have moved any of the Server Admin Tools out of their original locations (inside /Applications/Server/).
To correct this, “return the Server Admin Tools to their original location before using Software Update, or remove any duplicate copies of the Server Admin Tools,” Apple’s advice goes.
