Apple has released a new support document detailing the changes occurring with the MobileMe service in late September. The company specifically stresses out that MobileMe is a server-based service, and therefore updates itself transparently.

Apple explains that the new document's purpose is to provide detailed information about the recent improvements and fixes delivered by the company in its Late-September 2008 update for MobileMe users. From Apple's Support page…

MobileMe: About the Late-September 2008 MobileMe update

Summary

[...] Apple is always working to improve MobileMe. Since MobileMe is primarily a server-side, or "cloud"-based, service, the MobileMe team can make improvements and push updates to MobileMe without any action being required of MobileMe customers. Since server-side updates are a bit more innocuous than a standard software update to Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows, it's easy not to notice that updates are occurring. Usually the only hint of these updates is that things just "work better." Surprisingly, Apple goes on to include dozens of specific details regarding the latest fixes implemented in the service. Apple usually keeps such details under wraps, as it does with most of its software updates too. Changes include many performance issues and bug fixes to all services.

For example, speaking of the MobileMe Account in particular, Apple claims it was able to improve accuracy of the MobileMe data transfer details and that of used storage in a Group iDisk, as well as the storage allocation menu for family pack sub-accounts. Clicking Logout from Account now fully logs you out of MobileMe, says Apple, completing the list of changes brought to the MobileMe Account.

MobileMe, Apple's new service, automatically pushes new email, contacts, and calendar events to your Mac, PC, iPhone and iPod touch and other mobile devices. The software was designed by Apple to make sure all your information stays up to date, everywhere. MobileMe also provides support for push email, calendar, and contacts on your iPhone and any computer. The changes you make on one device are automatically "pushed" to the MobileMe "cloud," then back to every device you use.
