Epson 2.7 and Lexmark 2.5 Printer Drivers are two hefty packages that install the latest software for your Epson or Lexmark printer or scanner.
The two updates were posted yesterday evening with support for Deutsch, English, Français, Español, Italiano, Nederlands, Dansk, Norsk Bokmål, Polski, Português, Português Brasileiro, Pусский, Suomi, Svensk, Chinese, Japanese, and Korean.
Both require Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) or later.
While Lexmark 2.5 Printer Driver is already a large download, coming in at 147.5 MB, the Epson 2.7 Printer Driver update is a heavy 961.5 MB download.
Add them up and you have no less than 1109 megabytes of printer drivers to download from Apple.
Of course, there is little chance anyone is rocking both Epson and Lexmark hardware, but the download sizes were clearly worth pointing out.
As avid Snow Leopard users should already know, the OS installs software supporting the printers currently used by default.
This includes nearby printers on your network, and popular printer and scanner models.
Users who clicked the Customize button while installing Mac OS X v10.6 were given the ability to choose to install software only for printers currently used by their Mac, or to install all of the printer and scanner software that was available from the Mac OS X Install DVD.
However, these drivers are long obsolete, making it imperative for users to download the latest ones from Apple.
Customers can employ one of two methods to get software for printers that were not installed during the Mac OS X installation process
1. Choose Software Update from the Apple menu and select any available printer driver updates; 2. Download the standalone packages from Apple’s Support Downloads section, or from our web site (below).
