Originally launched for iPad, Magic Piano has gained Apple’s attention with the developer’s initiative to launch an iPhone version on the App Store. The app, developed by renowned gaming studio Smule, is free.

“Introducing Magic Piano for FREE in collaboration with the FreeAppADay Store App!”, Smule is proud to announce.

Apple is promoting Magic Piano as the iPhone app of the week via Twitter,

“From concert pianists to harmonic hamsters, Magic Piano has captured the imagination of the world. Finally, the #1 iPad piano app is available on the iPhone and FREE for the world to enjoy!”, reads the description.

An update to the application fixes some bugs encountered by users of the app, including crashes when launching the app while background music is playing, sound glitches on iPhone 3GS devices, and more reliability when playing multiple chords.

It is unclear whether these fixes are present in the current 2.0 version of Magic Piano, but here’s Smule’s official word on it, as posted on the iTunes App Store.

**Bugs Fixed!** The following fixes were submitted to Apple and should be available soon:  - Launching app while background music (Pandora, iPod, etc.) will no longer crash your app.  - iPhone 3GS audio will no longer crackle, sounds good!  - Playing multiple chords quickly will no longer crash the app. Play as fast as your fingers will allow!

Users enjoy new songs every week as “hot new hits are constantly added to the app.”

Those who download Magic Piano may also suggest songs on Smule’s Facebook page. This week's new songs are: Poker Face; How To Save A Life; The Entertainer; Bad Romance; Moonlight Sonata; Mad World; and Drops Of Jupiter.

Smule’s Magic Piano 2.0 is compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation), the original iPad, and iPad 2. It requires iOS 4.0 or later to work.
