Apple Opens iTunes Store to 12 New EU Countries

Apple has quietly introduced the iTunes Store to twelve new European Union countries today, eight years after the platform’s debut in America.

Millions of new European users can now download and buy music through iTunes in Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, Poland, Romania, Slovakia and Slovenia. Movies are up next.

The decision to open up the iTunes Store to over a dozen new European countries was only logical with Apple reporting this summer that its digital music distribution system had sold over 15 billion songs.

The iTunes application itself now displays countries and regions in a more organized manner.

Visitors get a more structured view for North America territories (USA and Canada); Europe; Africa, Middle East and India; Asia Pacific; Latin America and the Caribbean.
