Photography isn’t easy to master, especially if you’re the type who spends hours at a time editing a single image to achieve perfection. For these people, Apple has opened up a brand new section on the Mac App Store called “Apps for Photographers.”

You may or may not know this, but Photoshop isn’t the only one-stop-shop for creating awesome works. In fact, there are countless other solutions out there that can achieve similar, if not identical results. Take for instance Apple’s own Aperture. Priced at a fraction of the cost for Photoshop, it gives you a bevy of editing tools along with an interface to die for. Sure, you need a Mac to use it, but if you’re already in the Apple camp, there’s no reason not to consider Apple’s solution instead. Best of all, the Cupertino company offers a trial version.

Other recommended apps for photographers include FX Photo Studio Pro, the awesome Pixelmator, which has received more awards than you have fingers to count them on, as well as solutions for individual tasks, such as GraphicConverter 9, Flare, and Intensify. Apple of course also throws in its own iPhoto for easy management and quick edits.

To access Apps for Photographers, visit the Mac App Store and scroll through the right-hand advertisement reel.
