14 DAY TRIAL // Apple has taken its Mac Pro workstations off the European market two weeks earlier than expected. The move could be tied to Apple’s 14-day return policy, enabling any recent buyer to bring back the computer before the new regulatory standards go into effect.
At the beginning of this month, Apple sent a notice to European Macintosh sellers stating that, “As of March 1, 2013, Apple will no longer sell Mac Pro in EU, EU candidate and EFTA countries because these systems are not compliant with Amendment 1 of regulation IEC 60950-1, Second Edition which becomes effective on this date.”
Resellers were told at the time that they would be able to continue selling remaining Mac Pro stock even after the deadline. New orders, however, cannot be placed anymore past that date.
Apple also noted that “countries outside of the EU are not impacted and Mac Pro will continue to be available in those areas.”
Apple’s European stores have already cleared up their Mac Pro stock. On store.apple.com in EU territories, the company lists Mac Pros as “currently unavailable.”
