Arriving later than expected, the Apple Store 2.0 application is now live on iTunes with new abilities like Personal Pickup, and EasyPay, the all-new purchasing method which eliminates the need to go through a traditional check-out process.

Unveiled a week ago by people privy of Apple’s retail strategy, the Apple Store 2.0 experience has arrived.

With the updated Apple Store application, customers can now buy in the app and choose to pick up their order at any Apple Retail Store across the United States.

According to the Mac maker, most in-stock orders are available for pickup within the hour.

However, the most exciting new addition has to be EasyPay, the new ability to “Purchase select accessories in store quickly by scanning the barcode and completing your transaction right in the app.”

This feature is also U.S. only and requires iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S running iOS 4.2 or later. Other additions include the ability to “view the status of current and previous orders from the order status section in the More tab,” and additional international support for Canada and China.

Apple now enumerates the following key features for its new Apple Store app on iPhone, iPod touch and iPad: - Buy products on the go and pick them up at your favorite Apple Retail Store, or have them shipped to your door. - Personalize an iPad or an iPod with free engraving, plus get signature gift wrapping for select Apple products. - Buy an iPhone with just a few taps. - While in an Apple Store, quickly purchase accessories on your own with EasyPay (requires iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S) - Request help, check in for reservations, and meet up with a Specialist at the store. - Make Genius Bar and One to One reservations and sign up for workshops and events.
