The final (public) version of OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks is just around the corner, as Apple has followed up on yesterday’s beta with a seed for AppleCare employees, containing the official release notes.

People with access to the build say OS X 10.9.1 feels stable, and Apple has included a set of release notes with the software, indicating that customers are going to receive the update relatively soon.

The leaked changelog is available below.

“The update includes the following fixes:

- Improved support for Gmail in OS X Mail, and fixes for users with custom Gmail settings - Improves the reliability of Smart Mailboxes and search in Mail - Fixes an issue that prevented contact groups from working properly in Mail - Resolves an issue that prevented VoiceOver from speaking sentences that contain emoji - Updates Shared Links periodically when open in the Safari Sidebar”

OS X 10.9.1 is a highly anticipated maintenance update for numerous customers who have upgraded to Mavericks this fall.

The software likely includes numerous additional bug fixes, too small to deserve a space in the official changelog.

Some users have reported issues with the sleep/wake function, while others would greatly appreciate it if Apple reprogrammed the On/Off key to display a prompt, rather than put the computer to sleep automatically.

The problems with the Mail application (mostly involving Gmail accounts) are the most widespread. There are several threads on Apple Support Communities discussing the issues regarding misbehavior of Gmail accounts on Apple Mail. For these users in particular, OS X 10.9.1 will be godsend.

Apple handing the software to AppleCare employees is a good sign that end users are next in line to receive the bits. As usual, the update will be distributed free of charge through the Mac App Store’s Update tab.
