Japan’s “luckiest” bags included the ultra-thin notebook, plus an Apple TV set-top box and various accessories

This week, Apple customers in Japan have been treated to the usual Lucky Bag promotion which puts a low price tag on a mystery bag filled with goodies, including expensive gear like the MacBook Air and the iPad Air 2.

Dubbed “Fukubukuro” (Japanese for “Lucky Bag”), the bags reportedly sold for 36,000 yen ($300 / €250) and came in four different assortments.

Most valued bag held a MacBook Air

The “luckiest” ones included an 11-inch MacBook Air with an Air jacket case, an Apple TV, an Incase Icon Slip backback, Powerbeats2 wireless headphones, a Mophie Juice Pack Powerstation (a portable battery and charger), and more. That’s quite a lot of gear for just $300, as you’ll probably agree.

Other bags contained similar goods, but instead of the MacBook Air they packed either an iPod touch (fifth generation), or an iPad Air 2. Every bag is worth more than the price stamped on them, so every customer was undoubtedly satisfied (more or less).

Customers acted like it was a product launch

Photos released on Twitter showed devoted fans enduring harsh weather as they camped out in front of their local store waiting for the doors to open so they could get their hands on a Lucky Bag.

Twitter has been flooded with images shared by “lucky” customers from Japan. Check some of these out in the gallery below. A video from the Nagoya Sakae store can also be found embedded below the fold. Did you attend Fukubukuro? If so, what did you get?
