Apple has posted a new knowledge base article this week, detailing the process of activating your iPhone 3G with a wireless carrier. Users are provided with every bit of information they need to know about their device, the ways it's meant to be used and the mobile service providers that carry the iPhone 3G in Apple-supported territories.

Apple says that if you are looking for information about activating an original iPhone, you should go here. The link takes you to another support document, which outlines the method used to activate an original iPhone in the United States.

If you've activated your iPhone 3G at the place of purchase, but still need assistance, Apple offers additional information about activating your iPhone in the iPhone User Guide, available for free download here. Just choose your country and then the manual(s) you think could contain the information you're looking for. Pretty much every language is supported.

Apple also points out that the iPhone 3G can be purchased from Apple or AT&T in the US, and in the UK from Apple or O2. As previously reported by Softpedia, in the US, users can start their purchase at home (online), then complete their buy in just a few minutes at the Apple Retail Store. If this is the way to go for you, Apple suggests you should head over to this page.

For regions other than the US, you can go here for information on where to purchase an iPhone 3G. “The place of purchase will verify that you have an account with the carrier and then give you instructions on how to activate your iPhone (insert a valid, active SIM and connect to iTunes),” Apple reveals.

Lastly, for any other details / questions that Apple may not know about the process of activating your iPhone 3G with a certain wireless carrier, the company offers this huge list containing the names of all the mobile operators that signed with Apple. In front of every name, there's a link to the support page of that carrier. Click here to see that list and to answer all your questions about activating your 3G Apple handset.
