Customers looking to configure their own Mac Pro (Late 2013) order have the option to bundle dozens of additional hardware, including a state-of-the-art 4K monitor with a 3840 x 2160 resolution and 31.5 inches of screen real estate.

On the Mac Pro customization page, customers can buy additional memory and storage, a faster processor, a mouse and keyboard combo, as well as additional cables and accessories, including monitors.

Apple now gives buyers the option to choose between a standard Apple Thunderbolt Display and a Sharp 32" PN-K321 - 4K Ultra HD LED Monitor with a 3840 x 2160 resolution which, if you do the math, comes in at 8,294,400 pixels.

“Connect a 4K display to your Mac Pro and see your work on the ultimate big screen. With a resolution of 3840 by 2160, the Sharp 4K 31.5-inch display has over 8 million pixels,” says Apple.

“Not only can you see Ultra HD 4K content pixel for pixel and high-resolution photography in more detail than ever before, but you get a massive desktop to spread out all your work,” the company adds.

For these specifications, you can expect a high octane price as well. For US customers, it costs $3,595. In Europe, it sells for a whopping €3,999, or about as much as the Mac Pro itself, if you buy a 6-Core model.

The monitor connects to the Mac via a Thunderbolt 2 port using the included cable. The monitor also includes two HDMI 1.4 ports, and Apple carefully points out that “4K DisplayPort operation [is] only compatible with the new Mac Pro (Late 2013).”

4K HDMI operation works with both MacBook Pro (Late 2013) and Mac Pro (Late 2013) models, while HDMI input not available in the EU version of the display.
