Special Deals section cleared of Apple’s 2010 tablet PC

Up until recently, the only place where you could grab an original (first-generation) iPad via Apple was the refurbs section on the company’s web store. No more, as of now.

That’s not to say there’s not an offset chance some units will pop up in the future. But, as it stands, it doesn’t seem that the iPad 1 is making a comeback.

For once, the second-generation version is now discounted by a substantial amount (130 bucks, which translates into just over 100 EUR). Not too shabby for a tablet computer that’s still making up most of Apple’s market share.

Second of all, the third-gen version (with Retina display) is also up for grabs via Special Deals on store.apple.com. The customer choice for tablets is more than satisfied right now, but we’ll be sure to give you a heads up if the iPad 1 makes a comeback at Apple. Who knows, one cheap purchase today could make a fine collector’s piece in a decade or so.

Update: Apple is again stocking first-generation iPads. Some are discounted by as much as $170 (around 135 EUR).
