14 DAY TRIAL // As expected, Apple introduced its Music service, which will be competing with Spotify and other music streaming services.
According to Apple, the Music service announced today will be available on iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Mac, and PC beginning June 30. Apple Music will be coming to Apple TV and Android phones “this fall.”
“We love music, and the new Apple Music service puts an incredible experience at every fan’s fingertips. All the ways people love enjoying music come together in one app - a revolutionary streaming service, live worldwide radio and an exciting way for fans to connect with artists,” said Eddy Cue, Apple’s senior vice president of Internet Software and Services.
Apple Music sets itself apart from other music streaming services through its curation model. At least that's what Apple insists on when it says “curation is the soul of every playlist created on Apple Music.”
Human curation is what makes Apple Music stand out?
Beside human curation, Apple announced that Siri would also help those that use its Music service find the music they like. Simply ask Siri to “Play me the best songs from 1994,” “Play the best FKA twigs song,” or “What was the number one song in February 2011?”
Along with the Music service, the Cupertino-based company also announced another service called Beats 1, which is Apple's first ever live radio station dedicated wholly to music and music culture. The radio streaming service will be available in more than 100 countries.
With Apple Music Connect, artists and fans will be able to connect with one another. Connect will allow artists to share lyrics, backstage photos, videos or even release their latest song to fans directly from their iPhone.
When it comes to pricing, Apple Music will be available for free for 3 months, after which users will have to pay a $9.99/month subscription fee.
In addition, Apple also announced it would offer potential customers a family plan that should provide service for up to six family members available for just $14.99/month.
