Apple: Microsoft, Sony, Intel and the Rest of You…Eat Your Heart Out!

The video iPod has been launched! It took the iPod almost five years to become the indisputable leader of the digital music market (even though a new service is launched almost every day). How long do you think it will take, now that the company knows every "dirty" trick in the business, to achieve the same success with the movies?

Having from the very beginning a capacity of 60GB, which
will probably be increased soon enough, and being strategically launched close to the holiday season, the video iPod has all the chances to become the nexus of digital entertainment.

From now on, nothing will be easier than to copy the movie (or the movies) you like best on the iPod and head over to your friends. Or to see a movie wherever you are. And all of this for only $300.

And this is not over, not by a long shot. At the same event, Apple has also launched two thinner versions of the G5, one fitted with a 17 inch display and a 1.9GHz processor, priced at $1,299, and one fitted with a 20 inch display and 2.1GHz processor, priced at $1,699.

The new G5 can be remote controlled, a feature which makes it a powerful opponent for the Media PC, the device Microsoft and Intel are struggling to push on the market.

It's true that new iPod doesn't have games yet, like the Sony PSP, but one thing is for sure: Apple is slowly becoming the grandfather of all digital entertainment.
