Japan’s Mac Otakara reports that Apple has slashed the price on its Made-For-iPhone/iPod/iPad program, which spells great news for people who make a living selling iDevice accessories.

Apple’s MFI program is a rigorous and (until now) expensive program that basically sees Apple stamping its seal of approval on a third-party accessory that has been designed to work with iPhone, iPod, or iPad.

The Cupertino giant says on its web site, “Join the MFi licensing program and get the hardware components, tools, documentation, technical support, and certification logos needed to create AirPlay audio accessories and electronic accessories that connect to iPod, iPhone, and iPad.”

This includes headphones, game controllers, cases and sleeves, chargers, and pretty much anything that can be plugged into an iDevice, or wrapped around it.

Now straight from Japan comes the wonderful news (for manufacturers) that “Apple lowered the price of MFi licensing use rate and Lightning connector purchased amount from January, 2014.”
