Apple has posted a list of iOS 7-compatible devices, as well as a few notes regarding the features that work on some devices and the features that don’t work on certain units.

First off, if you’re the owner of an iPhone 4 you’ll be glad to learn that your device is a go. Don’t expect it to run as smoothly as it does on the latest hardware, though.

Any iPhone released after 2010 is a go, which includes iPhone 4S and iPhone 5.

On the iPod touch front, only the 5th-generation model is compatible.

As far as iPads are concerned, compatibility starts at the second-generation model. Apple currently doesn’t have iPad iOS 7 builds ready for development, but it will soon enough.

Feature-wise, things tend to get a little more complicated. For instance, the panorama format is available only on iPhone 4S, iPhone 5, and iPod touch (5th generation), so iPhone 4 is out.

Square and video formats, as well as swipe-to-capture are available on iPhone 4 or later, iPad (3rd generation or later), iPad mini, and iPod touch 5th generation.

The new Camera Filters work on iPhone 5 and iPod touch 5th generation, while the Filters you’ll find residing in your Photos app will also work on iPhone 4, iPad 3, iPad mini, and iPod touch 5th generation.

AirDrop works on iPhone 5 and all the iDevices that came around that time, and afterwards. The feature also requires an iCloud account.

Siri continues to be available on iPhone 4S and iPhone 5, as well as on iPad with Retina display, iPad mini, and iPod touch 5th generation.

“Siri may not be available in all languages or in all areas, and features may vary by area. Cellular data charges may apply. New female and male voices will be available initially in U.S. English, French, and German,” Apple says.

Find My iPhone remains compatible with all devices that support iOS 7, although its functionality may vary depending on your area. iCloud is also a go for every unit that runs iOS 7.

Making sure not to leave anything out for the future, Apple carefully outlines that “Some features require iOS 7 and OS X Mavericks. Some features require a Wi-Fi connection. Some features are not available in all countries. Access to some services is limited to 10 devices.”
