Apple has introduced “Mastered for iTunes,” a new section on the iTunes Music store where customers can grab their favorite albums (well, maybe not all users) and listen to them in pristine sound quality.

“Mastered for iTunes means these albums have been specifically tuned for higher fidelity sound on your computer, stereo and all Apple devices. Browse a range of music across all genres below, and jeep checking back as we add more music that is mastered specifically for iTunes.”

Users who are interested in hearing how music will sound after it’s encoded to make important creative choices during the mastering process can download a set of tools offered by Apple.

A simple, standalone drag-and-drop tool called “the Mastered for iTunes droplet” automates the creation of iTunes Plus format masters, allowing for a preview of songs using the same technology used to encode the entire catalog for the iTunes Library.
